They are unlacquered and will develop their own patina as they are used and react with their environment. The Gold finish is a soft finish and should be treated with care. There is genuinely nothing bad that I can say about this tap: the finish is flawless (I opted for the gold one myself), for the quality of the product the price is justified and it's actually just a great appliance to use in general
