In summary, they feel cheap, do not contain everything you need to assemble them and it's too late to return them. I ordered 4 to replace 4 older and cheaper bar stools (same top half but the cheaper base) that I'd bought from SimplyBarStools 4 years ago which had been scuffed, frayed and damaged on the seat around the stitching and squeaky to sit on. These stools are exactly the same as the cheaper version on the top with the bases being more expensive. I shall look forward to when they scuff and fray along the stitching... These are incredibly heavy (unlike the cheaper ones) which gives them stability, but make them difficult to drag around on the floor (I can feel the edges scrape my floor despite them having 4 thin pads on their bases) so picking them up would be better than dragging if they weren't so heavy. The boxes arrived when they were supposed to but none of the 4 boxes contained any screws. I called 'SimplyBarStools' who sent some out in the next day post which was very helpful - they were apologetic, but didn't sound surprised. Unfortunately, there were only enough screws to assemble 2 of the stools, so I did so - and contacted SimplyBarStools again. They were confused as they'd sent 4 boxes (which it turned out only contained 4 screws - but each stool needed 8 screws). When the screws arrived the next day I realised that what they had sent me previously were wrong screws as the base unit screws were slightly too long and had already scratched my wooden floor boards. The instructions were clear, but were instructions for a different bar stool which had the same parts and also had a note that they had added a tube of superglue for the base screws to make them more secure. This spoke volumes in terms of quality. The base unit is covered in protective film which was good. Apart from if you leave any glue when peeling it, it takes a lot of elbow grease to polish out. Once the 4 stools were polished you can see (like a mirror) the underneath of the seats where there is an unattractive fire safety message. It's also stuck on with glue so I peeled it off and it left more glue residue which I cannot yet summoning the strength to polish off just yet. I can't believe I spent £400 on these 4 stools. I considered returning them but the advice on the instructions are quite emphatic that once assembled, returns will not be accepted. I will not be buying bar stools like this from here again and I will not recommend this purchase.
These stools are sturdy and comfortable.
I can't rave enough about the stools I received. I am getting loads of compliments all the time and my friends think my taste and shopping sense is laudable. I will definitely be referring other people, and probably buying other products here as well. Thanks a million!
My husband insisted on backless stools so they didn't block the counter and close in the kitchen. These are perfect! They have low backs that they barely stick up over the counter edge.
Needed a bar stool for a specific purpose and this one was perfect. The stool is exactly as shown in photos.
